Job hunting on the Internet can be fun, efficient and effective. However, if you don't get organized and "on purpose" it could chew up all of your available time and more. Start by poking around on a few of the bigger employment listing services. test their search capabilities and check out their focus. It does no good to be looking for entertainment or creative jobs on a board that is dedicated to listing sports jobs or accounting and money management jobs. In most cases the company doing the hiring pays for the service. There are also sites that charge service fees to users that are looking for a job. I've made a few notes to let you know who pays for what. Here are a few of the career services and job hunting sites I recommend. I will continue to add to this list as I find reputable and useful services..
Employers and recruiters post jobs on CareerBuilder by filling out a detailed form, and paying a listing fee. Find your dream job in the Entertainment Industry. You will find a mix of regular and freelance jobs at this entertainment specific website. Some of the employers advertising here are Hallmark, MGM, Music Magazine, Universal Studios, Hearst Entertainment and more. Vault has loads of employment listings... with several special channels for $100K a year jobs, tech jobs and consulting contracts. I did a search on "communications/design" with the key word "writing" and got a list of 41 job postings. From website writing to editing to speech writing. Several of the jobs were telecommuting jobs which means you don't have to get dressed in the morning. Give it a go!
